Dear All,

Would I also be able to come to this meeting? I'm not technically a mentoring manager, but I do assist with our Peer Mentoring Scheme. Simon, who does oversee the mentoring here at York St John though, cannot come and would like me to come in his place. I am currently free on both of the proposed days.

Thank you.

Many thanks Baljit and Kerry

I attended Aston Unis excellent peer mentoring route to student success day back in November and I remember thinking at the time it was a good location (and I found a good café for breakfast en-route from the station to Uni which was a bonus!!), so if others are happy that sounds good to me! I am away from the office for the next 3.5 weeks so if any of you want to discuss what we might like to do (I was thinking a day, not too early star/late finish to allow for travel, with opportunities for networking, maybe a couple of people could present, maybe a guest speaker... How about Thursday 21st of Friday 22nd June?

Carol

Dear Colleagues

I have been following the recent discussions with great interest.

Here at Aston, we offer a student lifecycle approach to peermentoring, offering students mentoring opportunities from pre-entry, through to graduation and beyond.

We are pretty central, and as we are based in Birmingham city centre, have excellent transport links, and would be happy to discuss hosting this meeting.

Baljit

Dear colleagues

Many thanks for those of you replied about possibly meeting up (Claire from Napier, Alison from University of West London, Ian from Keele, Martin from Sheffield, Kerry from Newport, Zabin from UWL, Helen from Bath Spa).

I am happy to help make this happen, thinking sometime between June and September, you would be welcome to come to Surrey (Guildford) but appreciate that's a trek for many, wonder if there's anyone more central who would be happy to host? I wasn't thinking a committee especially but there'd need to be a few people willing to pull together to make this happen. let me know if you'd like to host or help with the organisation and we can go from there.

I wonder if any of you will be at the AUA conference in Manchester next week? (I guess many of you may also be at ASRA conference), if you are going to AUA and want to meet up to discuss this further in person please let me know!

Thank you, Carol

Subject: RE: Accreditation of mentoring programme and another idea!

Hi Carol

I run an employer mentoring programme at Edinburgh Napier. We have 99 matches at the moment and I am the only staff member on the programme. We have been awarded the quality standard by the Scottish Mentoring Network.

I would be very interested in speaking to /meeting with anyone else who runs an employer mentoring programme. I am looking at ways to improve/expand the programme.

I am more than happy to share my experience with others.

Have a great day.

Kind regards

Claire

Hi Karen

Our residential peer mentoring scheme at Surrey isn't accredited. Our residential mentors are paid - it is a paid part time job for them. We do run an optional (voluntary) certificate related to their learning/growth/reflection throughout the year, however this isn't accredited.

Always keen to hear what others are up to though, and also keen to see if anyone would be keen to meet up in person for a day of sharing best practice etc, maybe if there was something we were all interested in learning more about invite a speaker/trainer or something. anyone else think this is a good idea/interested in meeting up?

Kind regards, Carol

Dear Colleagues,

I manage a student-to-student mentoring scheme in the Business Faculty at
Coventry University. I'm interested to know if anyone has had their
mentoring programme accredited (similar to the matrix Standard for UK careers advisory services).

Many thanks

Best wishes
