Hello
We are getting some new compact shelving and have just been sent a sample shelf. The shelf is not flat but in the middle of the shelf, running along the length of the shelf, there is a shallow dip-rise-dip. There are also two ridges, running along the length of the shelf, each a couple of inches in from the two shelf edges. Looking down the length of the shelf from the end its side profile looks like __-----_--_------__. We think the central dip-rise-dip is to strengthen the shelf, and the edge ridges seem to be a product of adding extra metal to the edges of the shelves which contain slots for shelf dividers.
We were wondering if anyone else has a similar design of shelf and whether the dips/ridges cause any problems? We think the dips in the middle probably won't cause a problem as they are shallow and smooth, but we are concerned that books might snag on the edge ridges when they are re-shelved.
Any thoughts? Sorry for the complicated description of the shelves!
