Örebro University School of Business is host to the statistics
department at Örebro University and offers statistics courses and
programmes on the undergraduate, Master’s and research levels. In
addition to the Bachelor’s degree programme in statistics, the
department also offers courses on the Programme for Business and
Economics and several social science programmes as well as on programmes
within health sciences, science and engineering. On the Master’s level,
two-year programmes are offered in statistics as well as in economics
and econometrics – the latter is a collaboration with the economics
department. Students on the Master’s programmes are recruited
internationally and the language of tuition is English. The research
study programme has some ten PhD students.
Research at the department is primarily focused on econometrics and
survey methodology and is carried out with close links to applied
fields. There are for instance collaboration with Statistics Sweden and
the economics department at Örebro University.
Duties and responsibilities
The duties of a senior lecturer may include teaching, in both Swedish
and English, at any level. Moreover, research, development work,
administrative duties and building up contacts and third stream
activities are included. Under the current working hours agreement, the
position entitles the position holder to continuing professional
development equivalent to 20 per cent of full-time working hours. During
the first two years, the position also entails a scope for research
equivalent to 50 per cent of full-time working hours. The duties
involved require the position holder to be present in the department’s
day-to-day activities.
Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment as senior lecturer are applicants who have
been awarded a doctoral degree within the subject area or have
corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise
that is of significance in view of the subject matter of the position
and the duties that it will involve; have completed courses on teaching
and learning in higher education corresponding to ten weeks, or have
acquired corresponding knowledge in some other way; and have
demonstrated educational expertise.
