Pharmacometric Methodology Post-Doc: Advancement of model-based drug development
Model based drug development (MBDD) is advocated by industry, academia and regulatory agencies as a powerful tool to improve the efficiency of drug development. Clinical Pharmacometricians,Statisticians and Pharmacologists play a lead role in implementing MBDD because of their ability to integrate mechanistic, pre-clinical and clinical information, using quantitative approaches to address complex questions arising during drug development. For example, one aspect of model based drug development is the application of advanced PK-PD models to the exploration of innovative and early decision making clinical trials. The objective of the 2 year post-doctoral position will be to work within an early clinical development environment in an applied setting to explore the application and nuances of various trial designs, choice and sensitivity of endpoints, predicting the probability of success of trials based on interim evaluation and the impact of incorporating active comparators. Such problems unite clinicians and the advanced modeller/statistician, but indeed require advance statistical modeling theory, thinking and simulation to propose solutions.
The opportunity will require the post-doc to work closely with other modellers/statisticians as well as clinicians, and is expected to generate at least 3 high impact peer reviewed publications, and a contribution to applied statistical methodology.
Preferred Background: PhD in Applied Statistics, Mathematics or Pharmacometrics.
