Fellowship in Statistics
Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Bath
We aim to build on existing strengths within the Statistics group in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Within this group Finn Lindgren, Gavin Shaddick, Nicole Augustin, Evangelos Evangelou and Simon Wood work on the theory, computation and practice of spatial and space time modelling from the perspective of Gaussian random fields and smoothing, with particular emphasis on environmental applications. Merrilee Hurn and Chris Jennison work on Bayesian methods including strong interests in image analysis, while Julian Faraway is expert in spatio-temporal modelling of movement data. The statistics group in mathematical sciences provides a supportive and stimulating research environment, with weekly seminars, a diverse network of collaborators, and strong common research interests in space time modelling, functional inference and computational statistics. We seek to strengthen these activities via the appointment of a Prize Fellow in any aspect of Spatial or Spatio-Temporal Statistics, with preference given to work that has real potential to change the way that data are analysed.
