Just a short note to let you all know that dates for the next 4 IRMS site visits have now been confirmed and are as follows:
Wednesday 18th April – Network Rail – National Records Centre
Wednesday 16th May – Visit to Box-IT - Box-It at their Winchester site
Wednesday 13th June – Visit to Recall - at their Hoddesdon Site in Herts
Wednesday 18th July – Visit to TNA - Kew, London

IRMS Visit - Network Rail National Records Centre - 18 April 2012

The National Records Group is the centre of excellence for records management in Network Rail, and was presented with the Records Management Society ‘Records Management Team of the Year’ award in 2009. The National Records Centre was established in 2008, bringing together 11 regional record centres into one. The NRG provides records management standards and advice as well as practical records management for a wide range of corporate and engineering record collections. Their activities support major projects on the railway infrastructure, such as Thameslink, Crossrail and the work to enhance transport links to the 2012 Olympics. These projects, as well as routine enhancements and maintenance demands from the NRG over 750,000 engineering records per year, and will hand back to the business many times more.
The visit to the National Records Centre will highlight how they manage: - Engineering / asset information, including civil and signalling records in a variety of formats as well as CAD and a wide variety of signalling data; Content management; paper records management; a deeds registry; and the corporate archive.
The outline Itinerary for the trip is as follows:

During the site visit you will be able to view both their scanning and storage facilities,
