Located at 183 Euston Road, London, it explores the connections between medicine, life and art in the past, present and future. The venue offers visitors contemporary and historic exhibitions and collections, lively public events, the world-renowned Wellcome Library, a café, a bookshop and conference facilities.
As a Curator in the Public Programmes team you will be responsible for researching and delivering inspirational exhibitions that address issues relating to health, medicine and the human condition, and make imaginative links between the disciplines of science, humanities and the arts.
Reporting to the Senior Curator and working with other members of the team, you will help to plan and implement a well-presented programme of exhibitions. This is an opportunity to hone your skills as a Curator through your contribution in both project support and project lead roles.
This position is critical to the further development of Wellcome Collection’s highly-successful public programme. To be considered for this position, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
Substantial experience of organising major exhibitions within a museum or gallery environment
A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject such as history of Science / Medicine, Art History or Museum Studies
A passion for communicating science, art and history to a wide range of audiences;
Proven ability to conduct original research
Exceptional communication skills and ability to operate as part of a dynamic team
This position will require occasional work outside of normal hours including evenings and weekends.
Salary on scale from £30,000 (depending on experience) plus excellent benefits
