Speculative Scores is the title of a set of visual texts (both hand-drawn
and digital images) made by Lawrence Upton between late 2009 and Spring
2010.
Later, the works' images were a basis of the Guy Begbie / Lawrence Upton
bookwork of that title in Autumn 2010. And they were taken as the score for
the 4-channel 18 minute text-sound composition of the same title by John
Drever and Lawrence Upton, premiered at Black Box Theatre, Buffalo, USA
on 21 May 2011, a headline performance of e-poetry 2011.
It is taken for this night as an appropriate description of Upton's entire
artistic
production.
