Dear Colleagues
Please register your support for continued core funding for Belfast's
Northern Visions. Providing community media and training Northern
Visions runs NvTv - the UK's last remaining local analogue TV channel.
NvTv are set to close just weeks before applying for a digital TV
license, having kept hopes of local TV alive longer than the rest of
us they are weeks away from an opportunity to reach an audience able
to sustain their services.
Northern Visions has been a continuing inspiration to all of us
pursuing local public service television. Offering the people of
Belfast community media training and with a strong public service
NvTv provides benefits to all throughout the the difficult decades
Belfast has faced.
Please read and submit the Petition Form - it will go direct to the
Northern Ireland Minister able to reverse the funding decision ...
http://www.northernvisions.org/index/supportform.html
and add your own comments and wishes.
There are a few weeks to save this vital community resource not only
to protect the valuable work undertaken in Belfast but to maintain
this magnificent example to ensure local TV lives up to and even
exceeds the aspirations of those who have been campaigning on its
behalf for many years.
With thanks,
Dr David Rushton
Director Institute of Local Television and board member NvTv, Belfast
