Hi folks (first time post to the list, waves hi)
We've been doing some user studies of the British Museum's collection
database online, so I know the stats for the BM, if that helps:
- Jan-Dec 2011 there were 10.5m visits / 60m pageviews to the British
Museum website overall
- This is juxtaposed with 5.8m physical visits to the museum.
I saw a presentation earlier in the year by Robert Bud from the Science
Museum, who said last calendar year they had approx 1m visitors to their
webpage. You could work out the ratio from the document on the DCMS website.
Is there not a requirement for museums to report back to DCMS the total
number of visits to a webpage too, or have I got that wrong? If so, is
this not aggregated/reported?
best
Melissa
