[Regrettably] we R still using the sort of <manual> system that you're looking to >>>move away from >:-[
Our <<system>> comprises:/
-> Must {first} register as a [member] of the Library
-> Must present themselves at an ?enquiry? desk
-> Must CoMpLeTe a 4orm that _PromiseS_ use is <NoN-Commerial> and that certain ^Forbidden^ resources will be not be used
-> Logged on by a member of staff with a $$GUEST$$ account on a #specific# PC within l-i-n-e--o-f--s-i-g-h-t of the ?enquiry? desk
IMHO we have not %YET% reached the stage where uptake requires a more TECHnical_solution.
I think everyone is actively interested in learning about any and all tools that your request uncovers. We would all +appreciate+ a thorough ~~PowerPoint~~ from you on this topic, promoted through multiple blog postings.

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Visitor walkin access to online resources
*** Apologies for Receipt of non-Duplicate Postings ***
Colleagues/
I've actively interested in > all material related to how Libraries [ HE ] provide walk-in access to... non-University users.
In particular - I am interested in >> learning about any/all software solutions that are currently in use. [:-)]
IMHO > I will/can summarise to list [ or alternatively I will post my findings on my heavily plugged blogspot site ]
/Chris
PS: Seriously, we're currently reviewing how best to provide walk-in access to visitors. Our in-house simple solution, set up quite a few years ago is not longer meeting our needs and we are interested in how others provider this, such as using PC booking software or similar. Would really appreciate hearing what others are using.
Regards
Chris
