We have decided to leave the links up as it is helpful while checking the new subs and sometimes users will click on the link and then ask why they can't get any further. So it is an alert as well. I am the only one actually editing and amending our holdings but I have a wonderful manager who checks lines for me and tells me when an item isn't either displaying or linking correctly. Other members of staff (team of 7 including me) also identify problems as they arise. Obviously it is an ongoing process as no sooner has one altered an item than something else somewhere else on the list (in multiples !) appears. I often think to myself that I have amended a line but really don't have the time to go off and double check when it was done some time ago. I am too busy chasing the current problems.
We have holdings that populate the AtoZ from NHS England as well as our own Local holdings which I put up. NHS Athens authentication also causes problems so sometimes it is difficult to know whether it is from the NHS or EBSCO's side. I do agree that links are duplicated and often the holdings appear to be incorrect. I am constantly in discussion with EBSCO re one or more of our holdings.
I look upon it all as a work in progress as EBSCO are continually updating and upgrading the AtoZ site so I suppose it is only natural that there will be some fall out somewhere. Obviously this can be a time waster too and it often feels like it could be a full time job ! We also have links to Exeter Uni e-journals as we have walk-in access to their catalogue for our NHS users. So our list is a bit more complicated than most but I stand to be corrected !
I have often wondered whether setting up a wiki of some kind for AtoZ subscribers to voluntarily join and share problems and .txt files as well as icons and general advice might be useful ? Sometimes it can feel like one is reinventing the wheel or several simulataneously !!
Hope this is helpful. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me directly if I can be of more assistance.
Kind regards
Pam

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Ebscohost Electronic Journals Service links on A-to-Z
At Oxford Brookes we're finding that many of our links to the Ebscohost
Electronic Journals Service on A-to-Z have incorrect holdings. Now that
Ebsco have added direct links to publishers' sites on A-to-Z, we were
wondering if other libraries have simply removed the EJS links as they are
now duplicated by the direct links.
We always preferred to link to EJS rather than directly to the publishers'
sites because EJS provided a common interface so it was more helpful for
users. We are reviewing this now that the links are duplicated and the
holdings information for EJS is often incorrect. It would be very helpful
to know what other libraries have decided to do.
Many thanks
Janet
