**Visit to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical
Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) and AGM of the Career Development Group
(Scottish Division)**

You are invited to attend a visit to the Royal Commission on the
Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS)
(http://www.rcahms.gov.uk) to be held on Monday 23rd April 2012 at
2.20pm. This will be followed by the 2012 AGM of the Career
Development Group (Scottish Division).
RCAHMS look after an archive of many millions of photographs, maps,
drawings and documents about buildings and landscapes, from prehistory
to the present day. Around 100,000 new items are added to their
Collection every year, including archaeological and architectural
drawings as well as aerial and historic photographs. They deliver web
services and their searchable website Canmore provides information on
more than 300,000 places in Scotland, with over 150,000 digital
images. They also deliver the learning website Scran to over 4,000
institutions (http://www.rcahms.gov.uk/about-us/about-us).
The visit will include:
- An introduction to the work of RCAHMS;
- Seeing examples from their collections;
- Tour of the Search Room
(http://www.rcahms.gov.uk/visit-our-search-room.html) and Print Room;
- A demonstration of their online resources.
