I think the pub analogy is a useful one Heather - it's a useful channel but it can be exclusionary as well. There is a clear case for a balanced blend across these channels but, as others have noted, it's important to be transparent about advertising these opportunities widely so that, as Claire noted, we can at least be aware of what we might be missing.
On the topic of accessibility I was wondering if any others here have experiences of issues or benefits around accessibility of social media sites for those with more specialist access requirements (e.g. visual impairment, dyslexia etc)?
