Hi there!

After that lovely introduction from Wendy I thought I would say a
proper hello!

My name is Nicola Osborne, I'm the social media officer for EDINA and
I'll be guest moderating this afternoon ;)

I work with all of the EDINA projects and services to advise them on
using social media to communicate their work but also looking at how
social media-like ideas around usability and community engagement can
feed into projects in other ways.

I'm on Twitter pretty much constantly (as @suchprettyeyes) and blog
regularly but also use Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, delicious, Flickr
and I generally try anything new as it appears. For EDINA we tend to
use the most used social media sites: Blogs, Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube, Flickr, SlideShare.

I authored the EDINA social media guidelines and co-authored the
University of Edinburgh's guidelines so have a particular interest in
guidance/policies in this area. I also have particular interests in
amplification of events, learning & CPD and identity in social media.

I'm really excited to see what gets discussed today - before becoming
Social Media Officer I worked with catalogue records for the SUNCAT
project so I'm always very interested in where cataloguing and social
media comes together!
