We purchased MathTalk for a student with quadriplegia a few years ago. He was enrolled in lower level math courses. MathTalk did not work for him at all.
What worked was using Dragon with the Equation Tools menu in MS Word 2007 (and later). In Word click "Insert" then "Equation" (or press Alt, N, E, Enter). The MS Word equation tools include all the equations needed for many college math courses - from fractions to complex radical/integral functions.
