I'm rather sceptical about these figures which the Guardian says are unpublished.
The claimed Black unemployment rate over the last 6 years goes: 31.6, 28.3, 28, 46.6, 41.9, 47.4. The apparent 66% increase in 2009 is not mirrored in the other ethnic groups and looks like some kind of statistical artefact.
And if the figures are to be believed, the ratio of black to white unemployment is pretty much at its 6 year average, and lower than it was in 2006.

These figures are profoundly shocking.
Also shocking (if true) is the comment that
"*Data breaking down unemployment by ethnicity used to be routinely
published alongside official unemployment figures, but has not been
released since February 2011, apparently due to changes in how different
ethnic groups are coded by official statisticians."*
Can anyone point me to a comparison of the new and old codings please?
And is it correct that no attempt was made to link the new and old codings
- thus destroying the time series?
