Salary Level - Lecturer Level B: A$84,927 - A$100,119 per year (plus 17%
employer superannuation and leave loading)
This position is jointly between Transport and Road Safety (TARS) Research
(55%) and the School of Mathematics (45%). Transport and Road Safety
(TARS) Research is a research group at UNSW dedicated entirely to road and
transport safety research. The Centre is a collaborative initiative of the
Roads and Traffic Authority, the Motor Accident Authority and UNSW. It
currently has seven full-time researchers undertaking leading edge,
multi-disciplinary research into all aspects of transport and road safety.
The Department of Statistics in the School of Mathematics & Statistics
conducts teaching programs at all levels including a vigorous Master of
Statistics program. It has 14 full-time academic staff who conduct
research in modern statistical and biostatistical methodology and their
applications. Applications are invited for appointment as Research
Fellow/Biostatistician. The successful applicant will help to develop a
program of research involving methodological developments and
biostatistical support across a range injury epidemiology and prevention
research projects. They will also teach undergraduate and post-graduate
programs, including short-courses and workshops in statistics.
To be successful in this position, applicants should have:
1) PhD or equivalent qualification in statistics or biostatistics
2) Proof of strong research capacity in an area of biostatistics relevant
to transport and road safety
3) Demonstrated capacity to design and deliver high quality courses;
excellent statistical analysis skills
4) Excellent communication skills
5) Understanding of equity and diversity principles; and knowledge of OHS
responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant OHS training
This is a full time, fixed term position for up to three years with a
possibility of renewal.
