Scientist Position in Bioinformatics of Next-Generation Sequencing Data in
Paris
The Institute for Cardiometabolism And Nutrition (ICAN) is a newly created
"Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire" (IHU), one of six laureates of the
National Research Program of France "Investissement d'Avenir initiative.
ICAN brings together a community of over 700 researchers and 2,000
clinicians, as well as industrial partners, dedicated to advancing
fundamental, clinical and translational research in the field of
cardiometabolism, with particular emphasis on genetic and genomic research.
The ICAN Institute seeks a scientist investigator to lead the coordination
and supervision of next-generation sequencing (NGS) projects derived from
ongoing large-scale DNA, RNA and ChIP-sequencing studies. The successful
candidate will also be expected to develop statistical and bioinformatics
approaches for the analysis of NGS data, with a strong emphasis on
epigenomics. Candidates should have a PhD in bioinformatics or statistical
genetics (or equivalent experience) and have completed significant
postdoctoral training. Experience in the analysis/manipulation of large
datasets, including genomic data analysis, is required. A biological
background is an asset. Investigators within five years of receiving their
PhD are preferred, but more senior investigators will also be considered.
French language skills are not a prerequisite.
The selected candidate will work in the genomics department of ICAN, based
out of the Pierre and Marie Curie University Campus (UPMC)
( <http://www.upmc.fr/en/index.html> http://www.upmc.fr/en/index.html) in
down-town Paris, the first scientific campus in France. The successful
candidate will receive a competitive salary, and be immersed in a
stimulating and internationally competitive scientific environment,
including experienced scientists in molecular and genetic epidemiology, a
dynamic group of graduate/PhD young scientists in biostatistics and
bioinformatics, and unique access to bio-resources, patient cohorts and
state-of-the-art core facilities for high throughput genomics, animal
models, imaging, and clinical investigations.
The full-time permanent position is available immediately and candidates
should submit their CV and letter of intent to Dr David Tregouet
( <mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask]) or Dr Alain Carrié
( <mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask]) for consideration.
