Are you an epidemiologist with interests in analysis of large datasets or a statistician with interest in epidemiology?
If you are interested to do a PhD or a post-doctoral fellowship involving analysis of large clinical database such as The Health Improvement Network (THIN) primary care database or Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) data you may see this as a good opportunity.
We are currently doing research in following areas and would welcome projects on topics like:
a) Effects of medicines prescribed in pregnancy
b) Methods to deal with missing data in longitudinal health databases
c) Addressing overdispersion in generalised linear models in very large data sets
d) Evaluation of efficacy of treatment in real life - bridging from Randomised Controlled Trials to clinical practice
We will welcome students/post docs with a numerical background and an interest in using these large clinical database to address epidemiological questions and/or development of novel statistical/epidemiological methods. For further information and informal discussions please contact Dr Irene Petersen ([log in to unmask]) or Prof. Nick Freemantle ([log in to unmask]) (Deadline early April)
You may leave the list at any time by sending the command
SIGNOFF allstat
to [log in to unmask], leaving the subject line blank.
