You are warmly invited to the next International Library and Information Group (ILIG) Informal

From India to Kenya: Web 2.0, tourism and information literacy
Date: Wednesday, 14th March 2012
Time: 18.00 - 19.45

Place: CILIP HQ, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE

Cost: FREE (but please confirm attendance by emailing Alice Tyler: [log in to unmask])

Join ILIG as we hear more about the experiences of the four Middlesex Commonwealth Fellows from India and Kenya, to share professional expertise and to help colleagues working abroad build a network of
professional contacts.

Dr Sanjay Kataria, Philip Muiyuro, Dr Manju Shivalli and Sangeeta Narang will be talking about their experiences of working in India, and Kenya, why they applied for a Commonwealth Fellowship and what they
hope to achieve during their visit to the UK.

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC) supports fellowships for mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth countries to spend periods within the UK. Middlesex
University plays host to a number of Fellows on an Annual basis.

Sanjay Kataria is Head, Learning Resource Centre, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, India. He is interested in Library Automation and Networking, Development of Institutional Repositories and Web 2.0 Applications in Libraries and Information Services.

Philip Muiyuro is Library Assistant at the Kenya Ministry of Tourism and hopes to find out about how electronic resources are used in teaching and research in the UK.

Manju Shivalli is Librarian at Chowgule College of Arts and Science in Margao, Goa, India and is particularly interested in exploring the topics ‘Web 2.0, Information Literacy and Access to Research’ and ‘Empowering Women through ICT’.

Sangeeta Narang works as Librarian Grade-I in the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and promotes information literacy skills amongst health care professionals. She is interested in learning more about techniques of handling information and learning information search and retrieval mechanisms.

This is an opportunity to hear more about their experiences, to share professional expertise and to help colleagues working abroad build a network of professional contacts. If you have any experience or interest in the areas detailed above, you are encouraged to attend. Please feel free to forward this invitation to any colleagues who may be interested.

The access codes for the building are E, G, W, X.

ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, but informative, early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open to all and absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why we ask you to let ILIG know you are coming by emailing Alice Tyler: [log in to unmask] by 11th March. Thank you. We look forward to
seeing you.

The International Library and Information Group is a special interest group of CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, registered charity number 313014.
