On Friday 16 March, at 3:30pm, Professor Brian Ripley of the Department of Statistics, University of Oxford, will be giving a talk entitled
'Getting R to Dance to Your Tune'
Abstract: R is now very widely used in statistics and many other quantitative disciplines: it is approaching the status of a 'lingua franca'. But skill is needed both to know what to ask R to do and to understand what it did with your instructions. The talk will illustrate this with some examples of getting R to do what you want to do ... fast enough.
Venue: Quintiles Limited, 500 Brook Drive, Green Park, Reading, Berks. RG2 6UU. Green Park (http://www.greenpark.co.uk/index.php) is very close to Junction 11 on the M4. The venue is very close to Lime Square, Costco and the Madejski Millennium Hotel.
For those wishing to travel by car, visitors’ car parking can be found in the front of the building or in a multi-story car park for employees and visitors to the side of the building.
For those wishing to travel by train, buses run every 7-8 minutes between Green Park and Reading Station. Details can be found here: http://www.reading-buses.co.uk/green-park/
The talk will take place in Training Rooms 1 & 2. All visitors must report to reception to sign in and get a badge. If you are intending to attend, please let Alison Frost know (at [log in to unmask]) so that she can organise a badge in advance.
