Hi
The idea of one account shared by several tutors is one that has cropped up before and would iron our multiple problems. However I use so many online products you forget what terms and conditions go with which. Is this not one of them that says you are breaching them if you share your account?
I'm hunting around the Turnitin site to try to find the T&Cs that you agree to when you first start using it, but it has been several years since I've seen those.
We looked at Integrating with Moodle some time ago, but at the time they didn't have an integration for the version we were on. They do now, but then we are looking to upgrade to Moodle 2 within the next 18 months or so. I'm not sure I want to integrate twice! Maybe it is time we tried it!

When I managed a non-integrated use of Turnitin at a University, I set up generic email accounts for different departments at the university to manage the system (rather than using individual lecturers email accounts), which had many benefits including the ability to have different people able to mark the work (which was a massive requirement), it also meant that when a tutor left, we didn't lose the record of all their submissions and assignments, it also meant that I could monitors any emails (using rules in my email system) coming into the system from other organisations requesting that a paper be shared when a match was found - I could then choose whether to release or not release that paper.
If you have the Moodle integration then this should pick up who the tutor is on the Moodle course, and allow any of them to mark the work (I believe) - I would have thought that the Blackboard integration would do the same, but I am not in a position to test.

Hi Heather,
Multiple markers is a very heavily requested feature 'this side of the pond', but, according to colleagues attending the last Turnitin conference, iParadigms were not listening to the extent that it 'did not compute'. We're rolling Grademark out across the School and have recently moved to a 'module marking moderation' process instead of a double-blind marking process. The moderation process is slightly better suited to the scenario within turnitin (embedded in Blackboard) where anyone with instructor or Teaching Assistant access can perform all kinds of havok on a turnitin/Grademark assignment. We use anonymous marking and plead with students to spare our admin staff by putting their student ID into the 'submission title' box so that their work can be allocated to markers.
In our view, the benefits outweigh the risks.
Best wishes,
Mike

Anyone using Turnitin either integrated or not with their VLE.
Can you have multiple instructors (people able to mark) on one class?
I got the impression that you could have a teaching assistant on a class (not sure if you can have more than one) that could also mark, but not lots of instructors for the same class - this was in the none integrated version. Would that be true for the integrated version or has Turnitin moved on since I last checked?
Any advice on the best foot forward with Turnitin?
We aren't currently integrated we just have a link from our VLE to the Turnitin log in page.
Thanks
Heather
