Which confirms my suspicion - I had removed most of these tags from my
new CEs, to no ill effect, though the documentation claims they are
necessary.
Coming back to the original question, I had a look at the sites they
ticketed and did they by any chance just run rpm -qa | grep hydra and
so generated a list of sites that do not use tarball WNs ?!
