Dear all
I renewed my membership with Cilip this year but not with UKeIG for two precise reasons I want to make public:
1) it has emerged that some members and colleagues I specifically asked (publicly and privatly) information about a property in London did not disclose to me public available sources and their own personal knowledge documenting the title was defective - as it has been confirmed in Court and by the Land Registry one year later my initial requests, and only because of my strenuous personal investigations.
My requests were dismissed because considered by some as "off topics" or contravening conveyaincing practices and by others as "engagement" or "freelance publicity and generosity" whereas the truth is that my identity has been mistaken either for the one of a mentally ill individual allegedly depicted by some as a 'pedophile', previous occupier and owner of the property, or for his lodger / cohabitant, in several public and private registries and databases - with enormous negative consequences on my personal and professional life.
I believe it is a professional duty if you know that something is very wrong in public registries in terms of description of properties (and data properties in any sector) and disrespect for data protection law to disclose the mistakes and prevent further crimes and offences. That does not mean to deny rights of freedom of expression or to contravene anybody's right to privacy and confidentiality neither but simply to prevent crimes, offences and litigations.
2) I offered my availability to prepare, discuss or organise meetings or events or give presentations for 3 years.
I never received an answer but in two cases, and both these were used for publicity of events I surely contributed to inspire or gave the ideas for but in which I was actually excluded or not involved at all.
I felt as I had no other role than playing a part that may be justifiable for a very limited period of time as a new member but now seems very enough.
With best wishes
