The information portal, www.frlan.org is urgently in need of Country of Origin (COI) experts for Latin America. For example, we have just received this request from Harlene Katzman, who has a client now who is seeking asylum on the grounds that the Honduran government will not protect her from her ex-boyfriend, who has been extremely physically abusive to her in the past and threatened to kill her. She is looking for an expert who might know something about the Honduran government's failure to protect women from domestic or gender based violence. If you have any leads for her, they would be deeply appreciated. If you can help please contact Ms. Katzman directly: Harlene Katzman, Pro Bono Counsel and Director, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, [log in to unmask]
And please see http://www.frlan.org/content/country-origin-information, if you are prepared to help with any countries where we are still searching for COI experts. See also the training module for COI experts for those who have the kind of research experience needed but feel inadequate or unfamiliar with what is required: http://www.coi-training.net/content/doc/en-COI%20Manual%20Part%20I%20plus%20Annex%2020060426.pdf.
Thank you.
