Hello dear all;
In a project there are two installation methods for water and air thermometers:
1) After the construction of the dam is completed the water or air thermometers will be placed in their position and the cables will be raised to the crest and then will be logged into their swich boxes. In this case the lenghth of the cables will be increased.
2) At the construction time of the dam we can place a steel tube for leading the cables in the RCC part of the dam and lead the cables through it to the swich box in the gallery after the CVC is constructed and water thermometer is placed into CVC in a caisson which protected with a grater or if the water leakage problem along the cables is more important the thermometer can be placed directly in the CVC but near the surface of the CVC which measures the water temprature with a little error! in this case the cable lenghthes are more smaller than the first method specially in the upstream of the dam.
I really appreciate if you send me your idea in this case and I'm looking forward to hear your technical information about these kind of installation of thermometers and your opinion about their advantages and disadvantages.
