Senior Science Communicator
Part time 3 days per week (Fixed Term until 31st Dec 2012)
Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) is one of Scotland’s must-see visitor attractions. Our mission is to promote science and technology through thought provoking, fun and exciting experiences that inspire all to explore and understand the world around them.
Working within the Science Learning Team, the role holder will deliver and facilitate high quality programmes and projects for our education and public visitors.
Main Duties:
• Line manage a team of Science Communicators.
• Assume responsibility for the safe delivery of programmes for both presenters and visitors, in house and on outreach.
• Work within the Science Learning Team and with the Duty Managers to ensure that a pool of trained and skilled
presenters is maintained to deliver the programmes.
• Assist in the training for programme delivery and provide positive reassessment and mentoring to staff.
• Co-ordinate the resources and scheduling of programmes for education, public and corporate clients.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A proven record of delivering science experiences to school children, public and community groups.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Degree level qualification or relevant experience.
• Basic IT skills.
• Motivation and creativity to convey learning of science & technology to others.
