**Apologies for cross posting**
Dear all,
At SOAS we are currently considering extending our students' email access in perpetuity so that they can continue to use their SOAS email once they have graduated. Their student ID number is their email address and also provides access to e-resources via Shibboleth.
Currently, when a student finishes their studies their entitlement to access e-resources is removed. Now we are considering providing access to a limited number of e-resources which are licensed for Alumni use via Shibboleth (setting value of the eduPersonAffiliation attribute to alum). I am concerned about making sure that only those resources which are licensed for such use are accessible to Alumni members.
I would appreciate any comments from other institutions on their experiences of:
1. Providing "lifelong" institutional email addresses for Alumni and/or
2. Providing access to a limited number of licensed resources via Shibboleth to a defined user group only
Thank you for any feedback and apologies for sending this late on a Friday!
Beth
