PART-TIME ARCHIVIST (FIXED TERM)
Applications are invited for the post of Archivist at Exeter College, Oxford. This is a part-time (one day per week) fixed-term appointment for 12 months.
The archives of Exeter College date from the mid thirteenth century, predating the foundation of the College in 1314, and include a wide variety of material from medieval account rolls to minutes of today’s College societies. The Archivist will look after the historical archive, including answering public enquiries, and also advise on the management of modern College records. The post holder will be part of a small team in the College Library.
The College is planning to refurbish its Library and archive accommodation and the new Archivist will also be expected to advise on best practice in archive storage and conservation.
The successful applicant will be an experienced and professionally qualified Archivist with excellent IT, communication and organisational skills. Knowledge of Latin and pre-1800 handwriting styles is an essential requirement.
The College offers an annual salary based on a pro rata equivalent of Grade 6 on the University’s Salary Scale (currently £25,854 to £30,870 per annum, depending on experience) for working one day per week.
