I may be wrong, but I just do simple math to get it:
e.g. last year if whole mark was 50 in unit one, you student got 46, then 50:60=46:x, UMS was 55.2;
This year if the whole mark was 40 in unit one, you student got 35, then 40:60=35:x, USM was 52.5.
So you can find out the grade.
Hope the colleagues can help us!!

Dear Pan Laoshi
Many thanks for your information. Very useful!
However, I still cannot find the criteria for converting raw marks to UMS marks for 2010 reading and listening. As for 2010 paper the total raw marks for each of them is 50 , unlike 40 for 2011.
I could be wrong with all these (I hope in a way )and I would be so grateful if anyone could help me out here.
Regards
Qing

Hello, Qing,
You are right. Every year each unit is different, e.g. 50 and maybe 46 was A* in 2010, 40 and maybe 35 was A*. Also the exam board will adjust a little bit the boundaries every year for each unit depends on the paper (difficult or not- I guess). However, the UMS is the same. e.g.unit one listening is 54/60. I attached the guidance here.

Dear Pan laoshi
Happy New Year and hope you had a nice break.
Thank you very much for your reply. Much appreciated it.
I have checked but the listening and reading are different, as in 2010 the number of marks in total in reading is 50 instead of 40 in 2011.
I would be very grateful if there is any colleagues can help us out.
Many thanks.

Qing

Hi, Qing,
If you do not have 2010's, please transfer them into UMS becase every year the grade boundaries are same.
( one teacher has suggested how to get the 2011's from Edexcel website in previous mail.)
Am I correct? If not, colleagues please correct.
