Hi Colin,
We're still working with Elsevier on this. The workaround is ok but the error messages don't mention it so users probably just give up.
NB: institutions with Scopus: while it isn't affected in quite the same way, if our remote users sign in and switch to ScienceDirect and then back to Scopus, or, start at ScienceDirect and then switch to Scopus, that also causes an error "This page cannot be displayed." If our users try to begin a new session the Login [+] link does not permit discovery of any federation on the Scopus platform - there's no link to "Go to Athens / Institution login", they're only presented with an Athens login link, which they can't use! Switching to SciVerse also throws up an error: "Sorry, an unknown error occurred at this time. A service may be temporarily unavailable. Please try again in 5 minutes..."
Regards,
Dom Benson

Subject: Re: [lis-e-resources] Science Direct access problems and Ebsco-Host
Hi
At RGU in Aberdeen we still have the same issue with Science Direct. The lis-e-resources list has gone quiet about the problem so we are wondering if it has been resolved for other institutions?
There have been access issues here also with Ebsco-Host for over a week now and we are wondering if this is also an issue that other institutions are experiencing?
The impact on the student experience necessitated by the prolonged workarounds from both providers is causing great concern among our team.
Best wishes

Hi Rachel,
The University of Leeds is still having the same problem - no news from Elsevier, either.
Best wishes,
Trevor Hough

Is anyone else still having problems accessing Science Direct articles, or is it just us?
