Dear All,
We are interested to know how many libraries are using RFID checkout along with electro-magnetic rather than RFID security.
We are using this combination on grounds that EM security is likely to be more secure, given that the EM strips should be less easy to remove than RFID tags. However, we've recently come across a suggestion that the proximity of RFID and EM tagging in the same book could sometimes cause interference and prevent the de-activation of EM security at checkout, leading to false security alarms at exit. Does anyone else know of this or of a not-too-technical source which covers the issue?
Are those libraries using RFID security alone happy with the level of security this achieves? Do you find many torn out RFID tags?
Thanks in advance for responses,
Anne
