Dear List members,
I'd like to highlight a few things the Hub team are up to that you may be interested in.
Our blog is still going strong and we hope that it provides some useful and interesting perspectives on our work and on issues around online discovery, data standards, user behaviour, etc. Recent posts include the currently monthly Hub update, a post on cataloguing standards, a summary of our online survey of users of the Hub, with some interesting results, and a guest post by John Hodgson, archivist at John Rylands Library, on an augmented reality project: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/blog/
We are continuing to explore the area of Linked Data, and we have a blog for this purpose. This blog combines some more technical posts with posts that are about principles such as provenance, trust, authenticity, interface design, and how users might respond to a Linked Data way of doing things. We hope to share more with you on our progress soon: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/linkinglives/
We are continuing to grow, both through new contributors and new content. Our contributors map offers a quick overview: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/contributorsmap/. We'd be delighted to hear from any archive interested in being part of the Hub. You can find information about the benefits here: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/contributing/
We currently have two exciting short-term projects underway, one to create some videos aimed at potential contributors and online tutorials aimed at researchers, and another looking at how to export content from different systems - currently we are working on the possibilities of taking data from Excel into the Hub.
We are also taking a look at ICA AtoM (http://ica-atom.org/) as a means to help us evaluate what we have and what we need going forwards. We'll be able to share our findings with you over the next 6 months.
We provide quick updates, pointers to useful information and some light-hearted banter via twitter. If you would like to follow us on twitter you can find us at http://www.twitter.com/archiveshub.
With all best wishes,
The Hub team.
