So true - difficult the manufacture cult status -
it's true that the original wicker man doesn't really represent paganism -
and indeed many dislike the motif of animal and human sacrifice at the
end (my late mother - who was no pagan,
said "why do they have to do that to the beasties" - forgetting the
policeman) -
its the folklore and the musick that really got to people and gave it
something extra -
and indeed the sexuality - i suppose a genuine pagan reframing would
leave it there or
indeed challenge why Lord Summerisle isn't the sacrifice - as he is so
fanatical about it -
but fanatics often want others to do the dying)
Hoping your contrib is on bonus features - there was a lot of joy on FB
at prospect of British Lion films redux
- and indeed a sequel but it may well be a big let down - we really need
our own pagan cinema.

> IMHO, classics seldom benefit from revision, but I'll let the film speak for itself. Viewers can decide on their own whether it's equal to the original.
>
> My interview with the producers centered on the nature of modern Paganisms, and was intended to counteract any impression the film might make that they actually practice what is depicted in the original film and the re-make. I can't find any of that material on the website, but am told it will eventually be up there. We'll see.
