Dear List Members,
I hope this is an appropriate forum for the following request. I am
seeking a freelance medical writer who is able to work on a project
concerning primary care commissioning of epilepsy services within the NHS.
Below follows the job description:
We are seeking a freelance writer who is able to write a “how to” document
for GPs commissioning epilepsy services in their practice. This is a
specialist subject, but we will provide a detailed framework of content,
and access to an NHS commissioning manager who will assist in providing
further details and suggestions on content.
The report will describe the commissioning process, including; the need
for services, how to assess need for services in the local population,
detailing the types of services that a practice can commission (eg.
diagnostic, home support), some description of the different models of care
between primary and secondary care that can exist in the UK, formulating a
commissioning strategy looking at current and planned services, and a
description of the benefits of services.
Skills required:
• A background understanding of the types of care available for epilepsy
patients in the general population is an advantage but not strictly
necessary.
• Experience writing medical, medical/policy or governmental type reports
targeted at health care professionals.
• Any experience in commissioning would be desirable but not
essential.Commissioning is currently undergoing some changes, but an
intimate knowledge of the specific changes are not wholly necessary.
• Comfortable liaising with senior NHS staff and physicians (specifically
concerning the commissioning processes for epilepsy in primary care).
• Comfortable researching and making use of available NHS and DoH policy
documents.
