In light of the fact that MIT-OCW is running out of money ("We currently project that OCW reserves will run out in FY2012 without significant changes in our current funding model. Our challenge is to offset the loss of grant funds with substantial increases in revenues such as donations, endowments, corporate sponsorships, and alternative sources of revenue." - http://ocw.mit.edu/donate/why-donate/), I think it is good news that MITx has a business model built in from the start!
But this also makes me wonder whether anyone close to MIT-OCW could politely suggest to them that they should re-license their materials under CC-By-SA (as opposed to the current CC-By-NC-SA) so that other folks can have a go at (1) making money with the materials; (2) mixing them with material drawn from the Wikimedia world; (3) etc.
> How will MITx be financed?
