Subject: English Landscape and Identities Project
Dear all,
At the HER forum in Birmingham last week, Chris Gosden of the University of Oxford gave a presentation about the English Landscape and Identities project, a 5-year project hosted at the University of Oxford that aims to chart change and continuity in the English landscape from the middle Bronze Age up until the early medieval period. The project, which started earlier this year, hopes to work with HEROs on a collaborative and mutually beneficial level. The presentation in Birmingham was followed by a discussion about the opportunities and advantages of such collaboration. As not all HERs were represented at the Forum, however, we would like to draw your attention to our project blog, which now also includes a summary of the presentation given in Birmingham.
Please follow our blog at http://englaid.wordpress.com. We warmly welcome any constructive feedback, comments and/or questions. You can sign up to email alerts notifying you of new posts as well.
In addition, we would like to draw your attention to three fully funded 3-year DPhil studentships that are currently being advertised as part of the English Landscape and Identities Project. One of these in particular invites applicants with a solid understanding of and grounding in British (developer-funded) archaeology. Details can be found at http://www.arch.ox.ac.uk/studentships.html. Please forward this link to any suitable potential applicants.
It was really nice meeting those of you who were present in Birmingham, and we look forward to your feedback and questions,
All best wishes,
On behalf of the English Landscape and Identities Project,
Letty ten Harkel
