In an end of year round up produced for the Race Equality Foundation,
Professor Steve Field has expressed optimism for race equality in 2012. As
chair of the NHS Future Forum, he suggests that the health reform 'listening
exercise' has helped highlight good practice across the UK, and has placed
emphasis on the role of equality in the reform process. He also stresses
the importance of new NHS structures in delivering an NHS of which we can be
proud, arguing that the NHS Constitution will be met with a positive
response from Government, whilst the Equality Delivery System will help
achieve more responsive services at a local level.
Goodbye to 2011 (www.raceequalityfoundation.org.uk/goodbyeto2011) is a short
video project produced by the Race Equality Foundation in collaboration with
speakers from a number of voluntary, community and public sector
organisations, including Stafford Scott of the Tottenham Defence Campaign,
Vandna Gohil, Director of Voice4Change England and Chris Whitwell of
Friends, Families and Travellers. The speakers were asked to briefly give
their thoughts on how race equality has progressed in 2011, and their hopes
for 2012.
The videos have been published on the Foundation's Youtube channel
throughout the festive season in the run up to New Year 2011-12. Your
thoughts and feedback on the videos, and your own hopes for 2012, are much
appreciated.
