Subject: Virtual consultation group - help?
Dear All
As some of you may know, I chair the BASW Special Interest Group in
Alcohol and other Drugs. We have recently been funded to produce four
pocket guides for social workers on the following topics:
1. Young people and alcohol (lead writer - Trevor McCarthy) 2. Older
people and alcohol (lead writer - Wulf Livingston) 3. Harm to others -
children and families (lead writer - Trevor McCarthy) 4. Mental health
and substance use (lead writer - Sarah Galvani)
We want to establish a 'virtual' practitioner consultation group for
each guide, primarily comprising social workers/managers who will be
able to give us feedback on drafts. (Other professions or specialist
substance use folk are welcome but as these are pocket guides geared
towards supporting social workers who are not specialists it would be
most useful to hear from them too.)
So my questions are:
1). would you be interested in joining a virtual (email) group to
support the development of the guides?
2). If so, which guide/s would you like to comment on? (more than one is
fine, these issues do overlap and if you don't mind, we don't!) 3). Do I
have your permission to pass on your details to the lead writer for the
relevant guide/s?
We'll be setting up an email list for each guide. You'll be contacted
initially in the new year for any ideas about content before we start.
We then anticipate two drafts and you'll be contacted for comments.
Bear in mind the pocket guides are A6 size and have only 14 small pages
of content so it shouldn't take too much time at all.
Thanks for your consideration and ongoing interest and support of this
jisc list.
Please feel free to pass the message on to any colleagues or social
workers/managers you know may be interested or willing to be part of the
consultation group.
All the best for a happy, healthy and employed 2012.
Sarah
