This is a great loss. He was indeed a pioneer and his writings inspired many
of us.

Many of the research community will be sad to learn of the passing of John
Rex, who was a pioneer in 'race' research (and mentored many of us, even if
we did not always see eye to eye!). He had been unwell in recent years, and
immured following a stroke, so it may be a well earned rest, but we shall
all miss him, as will his family.

Dear all,
An announcement has just appeared on the Warwick web page to say that John
(Rex) has died.
See:
http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/insite/news/warwickpeople/obituary_-_professor
I will try and find out more.
It is very sad news but it seems like a relief from the condition he has
been in since his stroke.
Regards
