Many thanks to all who replied to my request earlier.
The main consensus seems to be on the use of Xerte: http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/ although a few other suggestions/additions were also made:
- Look at Online toolkit version of Xerte not desktop version. Try Xerte Sandpit courtesy of Jisc TechDIS (www.techdisplayxerte.info) and see user guides linked to www.jisctechdis.ac.Uk/xerte
Udutu http://www.udutu.com/
See if the freebies here can align to your project requirements: http://www.rsc-northwest.ac.uk/learning-technologies
http://moodle.org/
JING does screen capturing and is good for explain things as you can talk over what's being done.
And one to avoid:
' I tried Glomaker, but hated it, it is terrible to try and create things on.'
I am having a go with Xerte now- but any other suggestions are gratefully received.
Many thanks again for all your help
Kat

Subject: Training software
Hi all
Does anyone know of any free or cheap software to create online training courses? Ideally I'd like it to end up looking a bit like this:
http://www.scie.org.uk/assets/elearning/parentalsubstancemisuse/website/modu
le1/main.html
Also if possible I'd like to be able to embed youtube videos/annotated videos in the course.
I've had a quick look around on Phil Bradleys' blog, but a lot of the software now seems to be paid for.
Many thanks in advance.
