CALL FOR PAPERS
"DESTINATION ITALY: REPRESENTING MIGRATION IN CONTEMPORARY MEDIA AND NARRATIVE"
Pembroke College, Oxford
13th-15th April 2012
Italian Studies at Oxford is pleased to invite contributions (max. 20 minutes) to the conference marking the culmination of our Leverhulme Trust sponsored International Research Network “Destination Italy”. Conference papers should address representations of migration in contemporary Italian media and narrative, also with a view to exploring the role that such representations have in influencing migratory movements. Papers that seek to address recent migration to Italy within the context of Italian emigration as well as Italy’s postcolonial past would also be welcomed.

Anilda Ibrahimi (author: 'Rosso come una sposa'; 'L’amore e gli stracci del tempo')
Amara Lakhous (author: 'Scontro di civiltà per un ascensore a Piazza Vittorio'; 'Divorzio all’islamica a viale Marconi')
Paola Randi (director: 'Into Paradiso')
Andrea Segre (director: 'Io sono li'; 'Come un uomo sulla terra')
The languages of the conference will be English and Italian.
Please send paper title, abstract (maximum 300 words) and a brief curriculum vitae (maximum one A4 page) in either English or Italian to: [log in to unmask] by 6th January 2011.
