Postdoc in haplotype based analyses of GWAS data - MRC Human Genetics Unit, University of Edinburgh
Closing date: 14th December
An exciting position for a Research Fellow is available in the group of Professor Chris Haley at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, within the MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Edinburgh to participate in research on the detection of trait associated loci in genome-wide association studies. Our group investigates the genetics and environmental factors that underlie variation between individuals in complex traits including quantitative traits such as obesity or height and categorical traits such as specific diseases. We develop and apply numerical and statistical approaches to dissect the genetic architecture of complex traits and to exploit the findings of these studies in improved healthcare. The aim of the project is to develop and apply methods using local haplotype information derived from genome-wide marker data in order to locate loci contributing to complex trait variation. Methods will be tested using real and simulated data. This project is a collaboration between our group and two others within the University: Dr. Ricardo Pong-Wong of the Roslin Institute and Dr. Sara Knott at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology. The project is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council for a period of three years.
