Research Associate in Quality and Safety in Healthcare
Salary Range: £27,400 - £37,800 per annum
(Candidates with a PhD in a relevant field already awarded will start no lower than £31,300)
Project title: Explaining variation in quality and safety in healthcare
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual with a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, health services research or a related subject, looking to develop their career as a health services researcher at a world class institution. You will have the opportunity to lead on high profile, high quality papers on the analysis of health service and other data, and take part in the development of measures of quality in healthcare provision used throughout the NHS. You will be encouraged to participate in meetings, seminars and international conferences. In addition to a PhD, you will have appropriate research experience and excellent computing and statistical skills. Experience in using SAS is preferable, though training will be provided as necessary. We are strongly committed to personal development.
The small, international team is led by Dr Paul Aylin, Clinical Reader in Epidemiology and Public Health. The unit publishes widely in the academic press. Examples of our output include weekend hospital mortality, the impact of junior doctor changeovers, and variation in time to operation for hip fractures. The unit is funded by Dr Foster Intelligence, an independent organisation, which collects and analyses information on the availability and quality of health services in the UK. This position is based at Dr Foster Unit, Imperial College, 12 Smithfield Street, London, EC1A 9LA.
