Proposals are invited for contributions to engage 29, our second online
version of the journal, on the theme of the impact of the Olympics on
gallery culture, education and art practice.
We are interested in contributions from colleagues worldwide, reflecting on
the practices and challenges faced in different contexts, in relation to:
* The impact on culture of Olympic and Commonwealth games past, present and
future
* Gallery learning projects/programmes linked to London 2012
* How galleries respond to big initiatives while retaining core purpose
* The nature and challenges of partnerships
* West London, UK and International perspectives on London 2012
* The impact of Olympics on regeneration, communities, and national pride
* Critiques of Olympics, around legacy and sustainability, branding and
control
* The role of artists and artworks - those formally commissioned for the
Olympics, and artworks informally created about the Olympics
* The relationship between art and sport
* Paralympics and the involvement of disabled and deaf artists
Final articles lie between 1,500 and 4,000 words. The submission deadline
for engage 29 is 10 February 2012. We welcome contributions which make use
of the potential of the online format.
