The above messages usually indicate that the threshold values (in particular the main background image threshold) are not suitable. Check the range of values in your image and select accordingly.

Do you have a reference for this? FSLview does accept FLOAT data. Also, do you mean "crash"? These errors don't normally cause it crash only to not display the expected images.
