MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION:
6-month internship within the Biometrics team in Medtronic Neuromodulation in Europe.
The guiding principle of the internship will be to deeply explore and provide guidance on the way to analyze a particular kind of data (which can be classified as “frequency of events”), not only from a pure methodological point of view, but also from operational point of view (which programming to use) and pragmatic point of view (is the optimality of a statistical model to another one is really valuable according to its clinical signification).
The objective is to obtain at the end of the 6-month period an internship report that can be used by Medtronic as an internal reference document for analyzing this kind of events. This report will also be the basis of her/his thesis presentation to her/his statistical school.
In addition the bio-statistician intern will have to participate in the different analysis steps of clinical studies for Medtronic Neuromodulation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The bio-statistician intern will be responsible for organizing his/her work around the above guiding principle and objective.
The bio-statistician intern will have to aggregate essential and up-to-date references on method used to analyze this kind of events. She/he will have to program and perform some simulations to study characteristics of available statistical methods. She/he will have to analyze and illustrate her/his work with a real study case.
In addition, under the management of the Sr. Manager Biometrics, the bio-statistician will have to:
• Write some analysis plans,
• Program some analyses using SAS,
• Write analysis reports.
The bio-statistician might contribute to some study designs and protocol redactions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION:
The position is offered to a student preparing at least a Master degree in Statistics, with specialization in bio-statistics and preferably in clinical research.
Essential requirements are:
• Good programming skill, including experience using SAS.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English, which is the daily language in the company.
• Time organization skill and ability to work on several project together.
The statistical school on which depends the student is ready to sign a training agreement with Medtronic.

The position is based at Tolochenaz (Switzerland, Vaud).
