"MNI space" simply refers to the space of the group template developed
at the Montreal Neurological Institute and subsequently adopted by the
International Consortium for Brain Mapping (ICBM). The templates
contained in most common analysis packages (including SPM and FSL) are
in MNI space.
For example, in SPM you could look at spm/canonical/avg152T1.nii.
More importantly, if you normalize your images in SPM using standard
settings as described in the SPM manual, your normalized images will
be in MNI space.
