Where are you planning to be in August 2012?

Archivists, Information managers, audio visual and preservation
specialists will converge on the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition
Centre for the premier event in their 2012 professional calendar.

The Program will be built around the themes that are central to the
strategic thinking of all archivists and information professionals.

Sustainability *** Trust *** Identity

Can you afford not to be there?

Keynote speakers include:

--- Baltazar Garzón Real, Judge Magistrate of Spain’s central
criminal court, specialising in terrorism, organized crime,
extraditions, crimes under universal jurisdiction (genocide, crimes
against humanity).

--- Professor John McMillan AO, Australian Information Commissioner

--- David S. Ferriero, 10th Archivist of the United States

--- Miriam Nisbet, first Director of the Office of Government
Information Services, the new Freedom of Information Act ombudsman
and policy office

--- Michael Carden who joined the National Archives of Australia in
2004 to assist with the design and construction of their prototype
digital archive

See http://www.ica2012.com/pages/keynote-speakers.php for more
detail

The challenges and changes that archivists and information
management professionals face are based on the need to manage,
preserve and make accessible our collections be they paper, film,
audio visual or digital formats. Join us in Brisbane in 2012 for a
congress program that is focused, innovative and interactive.

The congress will examine our ‘climate of change’ through the
themes:

Sustainability: Archives recognising archival and information
management challenges and working together on strategies to ensure
access, preservation, security, and longevity of evidence and
information.

Trust: Archives supporting good governance and accountability,
advocating ethical and professional processes, developing standards
and gaining international acceptance.

Identity: Archives helping the community to connect with their
heritage, discover their individual stories and protect their
rights; strengthening the value, impact and influence of archivists
and information managers.

The ICA Congress 2012 – A Climate of Change – is now taking early
bird registrations. The price offered will be in place until April
2012, so taking into account your organisations financial year
limits, now might be the best time for you to register.

Registration details available at:
http://www.ica2012.com/registration/registration.php

The Call for Abstracts has now been extended to 31 January 2012.
The call is online and you have the capability to load your
abstract through that mechanism. For more details see:
http://www.ica2012.com/program/abstract-submission.php

Please check both the ICA website www.ica2012.com and the ICA
website www.ica.org regularly for information and updates of
information about the Congress. Also note the twitter capability on
the congress website.

Best wishes,

Margaret
